the holidays can be stressful
The holiday season is upon us! Meaning that we will soon be “swamped” with cooking, standing in crazy long lines to buy gifts, planning for family members to visit, managing children on winter break, and many more “fun filled” holiday activities.
But, let’s face it—the holidays can be stressful! Therefore, in order to make it (alive) to 2014… we need to practice self-care in order to avoid complete and total chaos. Below is a list of holiday stress management tips that may help you get through the holiday season.
- Stop, and take a deep breath
- Continue with your exercise regimen
- Plan ahead
- Go for a walk and get out of the house
- Listen to music
- Talk with a friend
- Attend a yoga class
- Be comfortable saying “no”
- Set realistic goals
- Don’t abandon healthy habits that are already set in place
- Set a realistic budget
- Ask others for help if you are feeling overwhelmed
- Take a break from the mall and meet a friend for coffee or lunch
- Make a “to do” list to manage your time appropriately
Just remember, its normal to feel stressed and anxious during the holidays. But don’t be afraid to seek professional help if you need it. Happy holidays!
